I was looking over the stories today since I was stuck for overtime at work. I've decided that I don't like the format Without Summer is in. So I'm going to end up changing the order of things to make it flow better. I was going to put all my rough drafts here, but I use my phone more than my computer right now and its easier to back up the story with the cloud than livejournal.
If you are reading this and happen to be following the story on ff.net, I should finally be updating Without Summer in a couple more weeks. It feels weird to add to the story after such a long hiatus. I actually want to have the entire story written before I post, but the way my life is eating up my time, if I did I'd never post.
If you are reading this and hoping that I've done something with Ignorance, then good news I have. I can't say its done, but it's progressed a hell of a lot further in plot than Without. I think that it maybe it's because, the two stories are so different from each other.
Without Summer is my first story. It feels like the larger, more complex story in my head. It'll get dark and hopefully gritty. It's about the lives of two women trying to find each other at the end of the world. I don't want it to be fluffy and sweet no matter how much I'm inclined to make it. The mood and environment wouldn't allow such a thing in large doses. I'd read over it and say: "WTF that makes no sense!" That can't be a good thing when you're the writer.
Ignorance was started as part of the July fic-a-thon over at the Devil Wears Prada livejournal page. It's supposed to be fluffy and humorous and simple. It's already more complex than I had initally intended. I should have ended the story where I did. It had a complete plot and the story could have stopped there. I would have had to change the summary slightly though and apparently I was too ambitious to do that. Now I'm trying to meet the requirements I've set myself in saying that what I posted was only part one. *facepalm* Oh, well.
The next time I start a story on paper. I think that I won't post it until its complete. I feel guilty that I'm not a faster writer. I just can't wait to write sometimes if and image or a scene comes to me so I rarely have the entire story plot point by plot point worked out completely. I only have a vague idea of where the characters are going to end up most times. The next story I do will have a complete plot point summary and maybe write out the entire summary before I post. At least I'll try. :)
